How to Fix Cracked Uneven Concrete Patio

If you want the exterior part of your home to look as picture-perfect as possible, then it won’t do to have plenty of unsightly cracks in your concrete patio. At best, this will lower the aesthetic quality of your property. At worst, it’ll drag the value of the house down. Fortunately, a cracked concrete patio isn’t something that you have to simply accept.

There are things you can on your own that’ll eliminate the problem.

In this blog, we’re going to take a look at how to fix cracked uneven concrete patio. In no time at all, the outside area of your house will look back to its best.

Seal Up The Cracks

To begin, identify all the cracks that you want to repair. It’s important to seal the cracks; if you don’t, then eventually, they may move upwards and crack through the new surface that you apply. You’ll need to invest in a tube of concrete repair and have a caulking gun to hand. Once you’ve fitted the tube to the gun, squeeze out the concrete repair as you move along the crack. Once you’ve filled the crack, let it dry before moving onto the next task.

Deep Clean The Concrete

The next step is cleaning the slab of concrete. This will make it look better, but there are other advantages, too. If there’s dirt or grime sitting on top, then the leveler that you’ll apply later will not stick as well as it could do. And while that might not have an immediate impact on the repair job, it can have a detrimental impact over time. You can clean the slab with whatever you have in the home — even soapy water and a brush will do the job.

Add Primer To The Concrete

You’ll need to apply a primer to the concrete in order for the level to adhere correctly. It’s best to get a good quality primer rather than just the cheapest option because the product will impact the end result. Use a brush to spread the primer evenly over the area you’re trying to repair. Every part of the concrete must be covered, evenly! Once you’ve done that, you can let the primer dry before moving on to the next step.

Add Leveler To Uneven Concrete

After everything’s ready to go, you can apply the leveler. It’s important that you’re fully prepared for this task because you won’t have long once you get started — the leveler will begin to dry after about ten minutes. You can use a trowel to ensure that the leveler is distributed evenly on the affected area. Once you’ve done that, it’ll need time to dry. It should be ready in about 4 – 5 hours.

New Outdoor Paver Patio

Of course, if your patio is cracked too much, then it might be beyond repair. In that case, you can look at getting a new paver patio installed by Sequoia Stonescapes. Sometimes, it’s just easier to replace a cracked concrete patio than it is to repair, especially if it’s been a long time since it was last upgraded.
